God—We believe that there is only one supreme being and that is the Christian God. Please call Him by His only name, God. He does not like to be called Allah, Buddah, or some new-aged hooey gooey. Please respect His wishes as a visitor to this site.
Jesus—We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, was wholly God and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind, was buried, arose bodily from the grave, and ascended into Heaven.
Christ’s Return—We believe that Jesus Christ will literally return to earth and he is going to seperate the good Christian people from the heretical rest.
Holy Spirit—We believe that God the Holy Spirit is active in convincing unbelievers of their need for salvation, and is the Comforter and Guide Who lives in every believer.
Bible—We believe that the Bible is the Word of God without any error, the sole authority for life and faith. God does not make mistakes.
Man—We believe that man is a special creation of God, made in His image, but that through the sin of the first man, Adam, mankind fell so that all men are sinners and need salvation. We believe that God created Adam and Eve as husband and wife. God did not create Adam and Steve or Eve and Emily. Homosexuality is an abomination.
Salvation—We believe that salvation is a gift received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Get down on bended knee every chance you get and repent of your sins.
Assurance—We believe that every heterosexual, Christian person who is truly saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Eternity—We believe that those persons who die in their sins without Christ spend all eternity in agony as the flesh is burned from their bone in Hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Christ spend eternity in glorious Heaven.
Baptism—We believe that water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and is by immersion after salvation. If you are not completely submerged you are not saved.
Church—We believe that the church is a local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the Head. Your minister has been called by God to keep you on the straight and narrow path to the cross. If your Church isn’t on fire with the Holy Spirit then you need to find another one.
Prayer—We believe that each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no need to hide behind a curtain in a small box and tell someone else your sins because God already knows them.
Government—We believe in God and government. This country was founded on Christianity. As Christians we have the obligation to maintain the high Biblical morals within our society that God commands.

A lot of people feel it is us who are making up our minds about sodomites, tribe of ham etc and its just not true. We are following very closely maybe even extremely closely with blinders on, the Word of the Bible.
What is more astounding to us is the fact that other “Christians” cherry pick through the Bible choosing nicer scriptures etc.
Unfortunately some Baptists may seem to come across as narrow minded and the truth is we are. It’s unfortunate in the sense that its the only thing people focus on. They do not think “oh my those people really do follow the Word of God” they just think narrow minded. Well the Bible is narrow minded…It is a collections of “news reports” if you will and laws.
I’ll be the first to admit the Bible swings all over the place. The New Testament is often in conflict with the Old…but generally speaking the message is the same. We are meant to live our lives a certain way.
The Amish are also very stern people and rigid to their beliefs but since they are not out there in the world and prefer to remain in almost cloistered surroundings no one really knows what they feel. We know they don’t drive cars or use the telephone and we all think they are quaint.
The Jehovah Witness believe that they and they alone will go into Heaven…forget you…forget me. That is what they believe. The papists, seem to regard the Mother of Christ as an equal and possibly even more important Deity. Every last one of these religions feels you are condemned if you live outside of the Law. Maybe because they are more secretive you all can pat yourselves on the backs for being more progressive than us mere hillbillies…but they do feel in many instances exactly as we do but they sugar coat.
If a people are living outside of the law as we understand it, if a country is living outside of the law as we understand it…a person etc then we do what we can to bring it to their attention.
Baptists could probably be best described as “literalists” . We obey the Word as written. We have faith in the Scriptures. We believe we are doing what we are supposed to be doing.
The sin is condemned…The sinner mocked. I’m not about to start hurling stones because I have committed my own share of sins. We are continually working to be in a state of Grace.
I’m sorry we don’t come across as tolerant but we are not tolerant. We are taught not to be tolerant. We are taught that we have to be rigid and we have to follow the Scriptures. No where does it say in the Bible, that Billy Prancer is fine if he is a sodomite. The Bible condemns ol Billy.
And there is not much i can do about that.

To use the Amish as an example of extreme-conservatism, you conveniently left out the fact that the Amish people do not bully others with their belief. and are infact very pacifistic when it comes to spreading religion. JW’s canvass areas, but are hardly as zealous as the public perception of the Southern Baptists.
The bible lays out a wonderful plan for existence, and healthy rules to live by. What it doesn’t teach religious elitism –This is a teaching of the preacher, and practiced by far too many people here.

But looking back at the earliest archived comments, the ignorance and hypocrisy is simply amazing. Reasoned thought is a rarity here on both sides. I am surprised to find it in your Brother Mcgregor
Moderators are representatives for their pages, and the messages it sends. Like journalists, they should be held accountable for what they choose to represent. As it stand right now, they are calling themselves. ‘Baptists for Brownback’ and do him no service spouting such extremism.

No, I am not one to believe in the Illuminati, or any type of secret world government. As an orchestra, this world is too chaotic to have a conductor.

I find reason in you Mcgregor, because your posts here haven’t had the over-the-top religious fervor found in so many other posts. This is the same reason why I question the intentions of the Moderators here. I believe whole-heartedly in the teaching of our Lord. I do not cherry pick the good parts. Hellfire & brimstone are as much a part of the scripture as loving your fellow person. The problem there is too much time spent here trying to make Jesus’ love an exclusive club.
I don’t feel that the Southern Baptists are podunk, backwater trash just as much as it’s wrong to think it is wrong to be a Canadian citizen.

From my knowledge of the “behind the scenes” there is a lot of discussion about the direction we want to take our mission. How to best serve our congregation and those out there in the community who feel as we do. “It’s time for morality and order and Christ to be the centre point of our lives”
I realise of course that a lot of people see this as “fighting words”
I do not know the moderators personally but I know they are reasonable people and they do try to exercise with the strongest possible parameters for fairness.
We have had (suspected) multinicks come in and create pandemonium and until we had our programs installed we were not able to prove it. Many of these people posted both sides of the coin if you will-Anything to create a problem.
Since the inception of the security programs we have been able to spot the multi nick personalities as soon as they start posting. Often they fight with themselves.
Lastly I suppose we have people here who are Baptist and they are angry. They feel that our planet is spiralling down into an abyss of sin and debauchery.
Most of us are blue collar labourers. We pay harsh taxations. The price of gas and bread go up each week. A child has a birthday and its all we can do to put a few pence away for something special.
We cannot isolate ourselves and live in small gate communities and nor would i want to. Baptists are angry because we work hard and serve our communities as best we are able (Some of the best southern hospitality will be found in a Baptist home).
Did you hear about the firemen in LA or San Diego (I forget which) who were forced to march in a gay pride parade? They are Christian men and they did not want to march in the parade. Their jobs were threatened.
This is what lieberal thinking does to us. It forces US to adopt lifestyle or condone said lifestyles when we know them to be offensive to GOD.
How does this honour our human rights?
People are so quick to point fingers but they never see the whole picture…
The small family oriented shop on the corner and a new gay bath place opens up.
It destroys community…gay rights do not build communities, they destroy them.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to protect your values & those you love. The extreme hypocrisy is how on one hand, you can decry all who do not match your belief system, while with the other, demand that you take away rights that is acceptable to theirs. To argue about your own ‘human-rights’ while attempting to deny others of theirs? Hypocrisy in it’s purest, and most evil form.
It is simply wrong to spend so much energy and waste so many resources on, what is ultimately a futile cause. There are so many better ones to champion.
I’m really not too keen on homosexuality, and abortion is a very difficult personal choice. Both of these issues I don’t believe in and feel is wrong. Past that, it’s really not any of my, your, crockett or any court to really be concerned about. No one is going to force you to give a man oral-sex, and no one is going to abort your sister’s baby unless *she* decides that’s the only solution left.
The fire fighters in San Diego being forced to drive the engine in the pride-parade was crossing personal barriers that should be respected, but ultimately it did them no harm. They’re just complaining about it, while a law firm that specialized in Christian-hype-cases has a field day.

But then some unsaved people start saying ridiculous things and to try to get them to understand, so that their souls too will be saved (as it is our duty to do, as good Christians (Baptists)), they reject the pure words of God, so I have to start thinking, to try to put it into words they will not reject. To recite the words of Scripture is so easy; to recall the exact words Pastor has said about them is difficult, and to think new thoughts on my own becomes almost uncontrollable and frightening, sometimes.
Then I start reading your good words, and the world goes back to being comfortable and good again, like it was when I was first a child unto the Lord Jesus.

For the record…referencing the comment made by Pastor Tobin Maker on June 19th, 2007: meat is composed of amino acid proteins while plants contain broken-down proteins and fiber. The cell membranes of plants are also protected by a cellulose cell wall. Meat cells (animal cells) do not have this rigid protective coating. There is a fundamental difference between plant and animal cells.
Since goat meat is composed of animal cells, it is not a plant and therefore consuming goat meat does not make one a vegetarian (on basic principle – why would you eat goat meat if you were a vegetarian anyway?). This “tautology” about vegetarian homosexuality is incorrect based on my personal experience (a tautology is defined as a conclusion that can be logically inferred from existing data; therefore, if I know vegetarians who are not homosexual I cannot infer that all vegetarians are homosexuals).
This tautology appears to be crafted to accuse Muslims of being homosexuals and, in your eyes, blasphemers and sinners. It is clear to me that, while some aspects of the Muslim faith conflict with your beliefs – and mine too – accusing all Muslims in this manner serves no purpose other than to strengthen a previously-maintained mindset – that is, that the Baptists For Brownback 2008 are the only true Christians. In layman’s terms, this can be classified as an “I Told You So” of Biblical character; unfortunately, refuted by basic scientific facts.

Christians can, and should, influence culture – and through culture, society and politics — principally by influencing the lives with which we interact in ways that point to God through Christ. When I read the article titled ‘Sunday Morning Prayer’, I thought it was a joke. I looked around a bit and found other articles and comments which made me realize that this is for REAL!
I’m very disturbed. Jesus was a loving Son of God. God LOVES his people – the good, the bad AND the ugly. God would never punish a child of His, simply because s/he was a non-Christian or even an outright atheist. If He did, He would be no different or no better than you or I, mere mortals with failings. God loves unconditionally.
Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett, you should be ASHAMED of yourself, promoting your hateful, xeonophobic, misogynistic intolerance. Isn’t the world a sad enough place already without you spewing your vile hatred and inciting religious hatred and intolerance?
I am sure, however, that God will forgive you. He is a benevolent merciful God and you should be change your evil ways and ask for forgiveness. Do not hate your fellow human beings just because they believe differently from you!

A man is stumbling through the woods totally drunk when he comes upon a preacher baptizing people in the river. The drunk walks into the water and subsequently bumps into the preacher.
