Gay cowboy buys the farm

Posted by Warrior Jodie on January 22, 2008

I just saw on Fox News where that queer actor Heath Ledger from Brokeback Mountain got drunk and took a bunch of pills and died.

Aint it it just so sad when young people who turn to that lifestyle always realize there aint no future in it?  This makes me wonder when that unbalanced Britney Spears will jump off a blame bridge or a drunk Lindsey Lohan will jump in front of a moving bus.

All them Hollywwod types are crazier than a nutcake and need our prayers that they dont take none of our younguns with them when they off themselves.

Them gays have a pitiful life. Aint that just the truth?

In the Middle Ages, a great proportion of the higher classes were illiterate, and yet were far from being ignorant, especially in regard to war and other active pursuits.

  42. God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. I believe that Heath Ledger was punished for choosing to play the role of a homosexual and for supporting the gay agenda. I just hope Heath denounced that sin and accepted Jesus before he died.

    Amen, GodsGirl! Welcome back!

  43. L said

I happen to know some bi- and homosexuals who are very responsible and otherwise morally upright young people. Therefore, your argument that homosexuality automatically leads to drug abuse is invalid.

Indeed, one of my best friends is bisexual, and she refuses to even look at anyone other than her fiance (who, by the way, is MALE) with romance on her mind. So your assumptions are entirely flawed.

  44. L: Well don’t come back here crying that all of your “responsible and otherwise morally upright young people friends” all show up dead from AIDS.

  45. earthlingdave said

Is this site a joke? Honestly, I’m not sure.

Well, your post doesn’t make much sense considering Heath Ledger was a straight actor, who happened to play a role as a gay man. It’s called acting. Further more, no cause of death has been officially released. So why don’t we try to have a christian attitude and have some sympathy for the man, his child, and family, instead of injecting homophobia into a story where it’s not even relevant. You’re pathetic.

What the hell is “AMEICAN”? I’ve never heard of that language. Maybe that accounts for your poor grammar and lack of proper social skills.

It makes me sad to call myself a conservative when I have to be compared to people like you. Thanks for dumbing down our party, beliefs, and belittling anyone with any conservative values.

Mod note: She meant “American,” of course. Don’t belittle her for a simple spelling error. Oh, and you shouldn’t compare yourself to us. Leave it to Jesus to judge you our inferior. God bless.

  47. KarmaCop said

Is there a reason that I shouldn’t compare myself to you? I have to, considering YOU are what makes us such

easy fodder for anyone arguing against a conservative viewpoint. It’s people like you who humiliate our cause on a

daily basis by showing the great intolerance that is the overlying majority of the religious right wing. It’s

people like you who deem other conservatives not good enough, and in God’s name no less, just because we disagree

with your gay bashing and intolerance towards those of other cultures. “Love one another as I have loved you,”

right? I don’t see much love, to be perfectly honest.

You seem to feel you’re electing a preacher rather than someone who will be running this country and displaying

true conservatism rather than a religious agenda.

Conservatism is as much about morality as it is about running this country without driving it into the ground

through personal agendas, slowly taking freedom away from the citizens and businesses, and driving this country

into a socialist welfare state, which is what our last president has slowly been doing over the past eight years.

I’m a Christian Conservative. However, I really don’t see eye to eye at all with what you have to say. And don’t

you dare ever judge me in the name of God again. That may not be what you wrote, but I know it’s what you meant, and I forgive you for it.

Apparently there is also a difference between being a Republican and a conservative. I won’t disagree with the fact that my faith has had some problems in its hierarchy, but I doubt yours is as perfect as you like to think.

Also, at least my faith isn’t so screwed up that we promote hatred, separation, and damnation in the name of God… hmm… sounds kinda familiar. Next thing you know, you’ll be strapping yourselves with bombs and be waiting for those 72 virgins.

    You’re welcome! :D

Also, I absolutely love your badly Photoshopped MySpace pictures, your hypocrisies, and the fact that this hate group exists. Thanks for the lulz!

Mod Maynard note: We don’t need your assistance here. If one of our member’s grammar or punctuation needs improving, I will address it. By the by, there is no such word as “lulz,” Mr. Strunk. Your other “comments” don’t warrant attention.

  62. KarmaCop,

I don’t like you. You’re mean and rude!

Re: your remark about “diddling,” would you rather the Moderator just plainly state that CATHOLIC PRIESTS RAPE LITTLE BOYS? Is that better?

  63. Bobby G said

Sister Mabel, you need to watch your language. Rape is such a strong word. Please in the future, use the euphemism, U.S.E. as it is not so harsh. Also, according to you, if the Catholic Priest is “u.s.e.ing” these boys, then it is God’s plan for them to be used this way, for they obviously did something wrong and need to repent of their wicked ways. You people are such idiots to bring up such unchristian topics and condone them.

  64. Bobby G, you’re right about one thing (and one thing only). I apologize to everyone for my language. I’ll be on my knees praying for forgiveness for the rest of the afternoon.

  65. KarmaCop said

By the by, there is no such word as “lulz,”

I wouldn’t be too quick to judge that one. Fox News did a report featuring “lulz”, a corruption of “lol”… and let’s face it, if Fox News says it, it must be true! YouTube it, it’s some funny stuff. Mod Maynard note: Your comma belongs inside the quotation mark, Mr. Know-It-All. Your second sentence is a train-wreck of a run-on sentence. There should be a semi-colon, not a comma, in your last sentence.

Your other “comments” don’t warrant attention.

By that do you mean my comments that show true conservatism versus your brainwashed, twisted, corrupted version of the same social platform? Or are you talking about the posts where I attempt to explain my faith to you, because you obviously don’t understand how it works? Mod Maynard note: I’m not “talking” about anything. I was referring to your defamatory comments about our congregation and its members’ MySpace pages.

I really don’t care if you slander my faith; by all means, go ahead, it’s nothing new to me. Just because we have a few bad seeds doesn’t mean the whole faith is as corrupt as you claim. Mod Maynard note: Slander refers to the spoken word only. Libel refers to the written word. Both slander and libel fall within the general term “defamation.” Also, you need a semi-colon between “ahead” and “it’s.” Alternatively, “it’s nothing new to me” should be its own sentence.

However, the fact that you claim to be conservatives and then trample over pretty much everything that makes up true conservatism is where my main issue with you lies. Mod Maynard note: You obviously don’t understand the Republican Baptist faith. We are the only true conservatives.

As for using the words “rape”, “diddling”, or whatever euphemism you choose to use, context is the same no matter what you say. You shouldn’t have to apologize for using a word that is in the dictionary. Mod Maynard note: No comma is needed after “diddling.” Also, you criticized Sister June for using the word “diddling.” Have you forgotten already? Are you a drug addict? That would explain a lot.

  66. Adam Nelson said

“Oh honey your preachers are two busy diddling boys to have time to promote anything!”

Wow, someone decided to bust out ye ol’ English book! Congratulations, I am ever so proud! It’s a good thing you have a spelling and grammar checker in Microsoft Word!

Republican Baptist is now a faith, you say? Well, congratulations on that accomplishment, considering I’ve never heard of you before now. However, I’m afraid that you aren’t tax exempt under IRC Section 501(c)(3) as you would be classified as an Action Organization. An religion applicable for tax exemption “may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates.” Oops, dropped the ball on that one, I must say.

As for your final comment, apparently you are either missing the point I was trying to make or just skipping it entirely. And to be perfectly honest, yes, I am a drug addict. Caffiene is one hell of a drug.

Mod Maynard note: You’re a ridiculous person. I was an English teacher for over 20 years. I could teach Microsoft Word programmers a thing or two about grammar. By the by, it’s spelled “caffeine.”

  75. ROMAN CATHOLIC said

The Catholic Church was commissioned by Christ to teach all nations and to teach them infallibly—guided, as he promised, by the Holy Spirit until the end of the world (John 14:26, 16:13). The mere fact that the Church teaches that something is definitely true is a guarantee that it is true (cf. Matt. 28:18-20, Luke 10:16, 1 Tim. 3:15).

Mod note: Oh, look! Another person who just happens to have the same I.P. address as “huh” and “obama for prez.” What a coincidence!

  76. ROMAN CATHOLIC said

Mary freely and actively cooperated in a unique way with God’s plan of salvation (Luke 1:38; Gal. 4:4). Like any mother, she was never separated from the suffering of her Son (Luke 2:35), and Scripture promises that those who share in the sufferings of Christ will share in his glory (Rom. 8:17). Since she suffered a unique interior martyrdom, it is appropriate that Jesus would honor her with a unique glory.

All Christians believe that one day we will all be raised in a glorious form and then caught up and rendered immaculate to be with Jesus forever (1 Thess. 4:17; Rev. 21:27). As the first person to say “yes” to the good news of Jesus (Luke 1:38), Mary is in a sense the prototypical Christian, and received early the blessings we will all one day be given.

  77. ROMAN CATHOLIC said

You would not have the KJV if our priests and monks would not have preserved the bible texts through the middle ages. So, while the Pope himself works to unite the faith, you rant on an on about hateful ignorance.

There is only ONE universal church (catholic means universal, babe). This is the church that Jesus founded to carry on his mission until his return. Your hokey congragations led by people of questionable credentials are what keep Christians divided. You say you go straight to the CEO…yet are so closed minded that you’re incapable of true communication with the Lord.

  78. ROMAN CATHOLIC said

Protestants claim the Bible is the only rule of faith, meaning that it contains all of the material one needs for theology and that this material is sufficiently clear that one does not need apostolic tradition or the Church’s magisterium (teaching authority) to help one understand it. In the Protestant view, the whole of Christian truth is found within the Bible’s pages. Anything extraneous to the Bible is simply non-authoritative, unnecessary, or wrong—and may well hinder one in coming to God.

Catholics, on the other hand, recognize that the Bible does not endorse this view and that, in fact, it is repudiated in Scripture. The true “rule of faith”—as expressed in the Bible itself—is Scripture plus apostolic tradition, as manifested in the living teaching authority of the Catholic Church, to which were entrusted the oral teachings of Jesus and the apostles, along with the authority to interpret Scripture correctly.

In the Second Vatican Council’s document on divine revelation, Dei Verbum (Latin: “The Word of God”), the relationship between Tradition and Scripture is explained: “Hence there exists a close connection and communication between sacred Tradition and sacred Scripture. For both of them, flowing from the same divine wellspring, in a certain way merge into a unity and tend toward the same end. For sacred Scripture is the word of God inasmuch as it is consigned to writing under the inspiration of the divine Spirit. To the successors of the apostles, sacred Tradition hands on in its full purity God’s word, which was entrusted to the apostles by Christ the Lord and the Holy Spirit.

“Thus, by the light of the Spirit of truth, these successors can in their preaching preserve this word of God faithfully, explain it, and make it more widely known. Consequently it is not from sacred Scripture alone that the Church draws her certainty about everything which has been revealed. Therefore both sacred Tradition and sacred Scripture are to be accepted and venerated with the same devotion and reverence.”

But Evangelical and Fundamentalist Protestants, who place their confidence in Martin Luther’s theory of sola scriptura (Latin: “Scripture alone”), will usually argue for their position by citing a couple of key verses. The first is this: “These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31). The other is this: “All Scripture is
inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be equipped, prepared for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16–17). According to these Protestants, these verses demonstrate the reality of sola scriptura (the “Bible only” theory).

Not so, reply Catholics. First, the verse from John refers to the things written in that book (read it with John 20:30, the verse immediately before it to see the context of the statement in question). If this verse proved anything, it would not prove the theory of sola scriptura but that the Gospel of John is sufficient.

Second, the verse from John’s Gospel tells us only that the Bible was composed so we can be helped to believe Jesus is the Messiah. It does not say the Bible is all we need for salvation, much less that the Bible is all we need for theology; nor does it say the Bible is even necessary to believe in Christ. After all, the earliest Christians had no New Testament to which they could appeal; they learned from oral, rather than written, instruction. Until relatively recent times, the Bible was inaccessible to most people, either because they could not read or because the printing press had not been invented. All these people learned from oral instruction, passed down, generation to generation, by the Church.

Now, on a more serious note, Heath Ledger was not gay. And I seriously hope members of his family see this and bring the proper libel charges against you for it. Oh yeah, you have that stupid disclaimer saying everything here should be taken as parody.
But parody or not, to slander the dead with lies is a sin. He played the part of a gay man in a movie, that’s what actors do, the character was gay, not the actor. And you are all heartless assholes for posting such crap about someone who so recently passed away.
However, in this case I will do my part to be fair to all involved. I never met Heath Ledger, I don’t exactly travel in those circles, but I do happen to know a couple of his relatives, not well, but well enough to send them a note on this post, which I am going to do now, I’ll let you do your own explaining to his family on why you thought it was necessary to post these lies about him so soon after his death.

oh boy, another one of my comments going into moderation, do you do that to everyone, or are you afraid I may say something wrong, like the truth?

    Hi Everyone,

Well first and foremost I would like to point out that Heath Ledger was in fact not a homosexual. Yes he did play a homosexual in Brokeback Mountain, but this was merely an expansion of his artistic repetoir, simply a character he portrayed and nothing more. As was mentioned before the character not the actor himself was gay. I am from Perth, Australia, Heath’s hometown. A great number of Aussies are very insulted by this blog and what you people are trying to do to Heath’s memory.

It is however hilarious that you have somehow managed to turn this into a religious debate. I thought Christians were supposed to be accepting of all religions. I hope you realise that the essential divide between protestantism and catholisism is a debate over whether holy communion is intended to be literal or metaphorical.
Then again, obviously the US has been hijacked by religious fundamentalists, who originally fled from England for the very reason that they held extreme ideas over religion. Perhaps some of you need to tone this down slightly. Your belief in Jesus is no more valid than the belief in the flying spaghetti monster. that is all it is, a belief.

Finally, all of you so called “Christians” aren’t setting a very good example for followers of the religion. A true Christian wouldn’t make horrible comments about a fellow human being who died in such tragic circumstances. It isnt up to you to judge, according to you only god has that right. Perhaps you need to rethink if you are in fact as righteous as you like to believe you are.

Jodie and June, you are both obviously uneducated, indoctrinated, ignorant fundamentalist Americans (yeah everyone hates America if you didnt notice). Pehaps you should get out there, and see a bit more of the world and experience some other religions and cultures before you can be so quick to judge.

    You people all disgust me.
Who the hell are you to judge others? A bunch of liberalist hating Christians? Heath Ledger’s death is was a tragic event, and you are all using his single role in a movie as a way to not only insult him, but also homosexual people everywhere.

Stop judging others, and maybe judge yourselves.

To all the ‘Christians’ in this thread.
A few thoughts on righteousness and the truth of God.

What is it about evangelicism that so accurately mirros religious fanaticism and extremism?
The fact that no argument, no matter how well thought through or logical will ever be accepted because you ‘know’ or have decided it is wrong. You are aware that your precious form of Christianity is a new-comer in this world, a corruption of older and quite frankly more straight-forward religions? That Christ didn’t even promote your way of life and was a practicing Jew?

Now, for sexuality in the Bible. Quite frankly, the world was different back when the ‘good book’ was written, for example, modern women have far more say in how they live their lives now than they ever did just a few hundred years ago, does that make feminism wrong as well? Does that make a woman that decides not to marry before she’s 30 evil? Does that make a woman that decides she would like a career a ‘Satanist’?

Some of the comments I’ve read in this thread make me wonder if you also believe the world was created a little over three or four thousand years ago, despite overwhelming proof compiled by countless Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs and people of every other religion under the sky, not because of hatred for God, but inspired by His wonderousness and diverse joys.

Back to OP’s topic, Heath ledger was one of the greatest actors to grace this world, if he saw fit to portray a man in a film then so be it, regardless of the man in question. You would all do well to judge the quality of his acting and not the subject matter unless you have hands-on, personal experience of the subject matter and of being in the situation portrayed. In fact, you would probably do well to just stop judging people and their actions completely, after all, isn’t that supposed to be God’s job now? Try considering how your own actions affect the world around you and your own soul for a change. An eye for an eye? Reap what you sew? The evangelical faith hasn’t sewn a great deal of love or compassion lately.

As for me? In His words, I am what I am. I am a man that believes in God and whom God, in turn, believes. I don’t need proof of his existence to know that He is there and will always be there for me. I’ve had such proof time and time again, walking down the street, talking to friends, at my place of work and in my lovers arms. Who my lover is has no relation to my spiritual being or my holiness in the eyes of any god, least of all a pent up, facist fanatic like the one you would have me believe exists.

A god with an outlook more radical than Hitler’s is not a god this world needs and for that you have my pity and, I very much suspect, the pity of the greater part of the human race and all of its gods and goddesses across the entirety of this insignificantly small planet, on the arm of a decidedly average galaxy, swamped by the vastness of a universe full of galaxies in numbers incomprehensible by the human mind.

(…and if that and the intricacies of the laws that govern them are not proof of gods existence…)

To anyone still following this thread,

A little over five minutes ago I discovered this thread while searching for images of the late, and very talented, Heath Ledger. As an open-minded, fifteen year old of undefined religion I was not only shocked by some of the comment in this thread but also by the attitudes of the “Christians” within it. At first, when I read the opening comment, I was certain that the site was a joke. However, as I read further I realised that it wasn’t just some fools acting out the red necked, American, Christian stereotype but real people who actually believed their comments to be true. My hilarity disappeared and chagrin swiftly stood up to the pedestal.
Firstly, as some have pointed out, Heath was not Homosexual. This means that all your points are moot anyway.
Secondly, there is nothing wrong with homosexuals. I myself happen to think that the prospect of two men, especially with one of them being as handsome as Heath, having “romantic tendencies” towards each other to be quite a turn on. And I don’t believe that I’m going to be sent to Hell for it. Did God not say, “Love thy neighbour”? God wanted His followers to show compassion, understanding and a lack of prejudice-all of which are sadly lacking in most of the participants of this thread.
I would also like to point out that drug addicts have a serious mental illness, something which has only ONE link to homosexuality. And that, Ladies and Gentlemen, is the fact that Homosexuals are forced- through the constant and ignorant disrespect from people like you- to find an escape from the world.
I apologise if I have offended anyone. However, if I have, maybe you sit back and ask yourselves why because I speak for a large chunk of the world when I say that your comments were a derogatory and disgusting example of society and human nature in general.
    Camilla.
