SUNDAY MESSAGE – JESUS WAS WHITE: Re-stating the obvious

“What Color was Jesus?” Over and over and over again. It never ceases to amaze us here in the ministry that anyone could even question whether Jesus was White. We constantly have to point this out to some of the lost souls and dimwits who wander in off the street and , frankly, tire us out with their ignorance about so many basic tenents of Christianity, including the non-question of Jesus’ coloration. Yet, we get this question almost 4-1 over any other lame inquiry and we get challenged, without factual evidence as bigots, racists, and ignoramouses. So, to set the record straight, as Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett is wont to say, here, FOR THE LAST TIME, why we KNOW Jesus was White.

PART ONE: ART
And, we’re not talking “Renaissance” art, much of which is inflamed with Malignant Narcissism and other invitations to perversion. (Caravaggio comes to mind. Only that greasy, fey little pizza spinner could paint a religious picture and make it look like an ad for a gay bathhouse.) No, we are talking about the earliest KNOWN images portraying Jesus Christ.

Keep in mind, from the time of Moses (c.1200 Before Christ) faithful ancient Hebrews followed the ban on image making (”no false gods”), the second of the Ten Commandments written on the tablets. Christianity, made up as it was of many “perfected” Jews, followed that same ban initially.

This is Jesus, shown dressed as a Roman soldier but wearing royal purple and gold. And, you will notice, a WHITE guy. He is “trampling” the devil (snake) as well as Rome (the lion), and is holding the scriptures which read “I am the way, the truth and the life.” Words which we of course follow today, as he is all of those. This is from a 5th Century Roman church, so it’s safe to say that after 400 years, people were able to pass down personal recollections of how he looked, and clearly, he was White. Four hundred years is not such a long time for oral history, and it was especially important in an area of the world where paper was very expensive, the postal service (especially in Italy) as unreliable as it is today.  Plus, they had no tee-vee.

The next mosaic portrays the “Miracle of the Loaves and the Fishes,” from the Church of Sant’Apollinare Nuovo. c. 504 AD – that would be The Year of Our Lord. Not some stupid “common era” nonsense, which was started by pointy-headed, so call-ed intyellectuals and is just another way to drive Christ and Christianity out of our lives.  More evidence of the rampant persecution of God’s people.

Now, clearly, in this mosaic, Jesus is White. So are the apostles around him. One man, to Christ’s left appears to be a blonde.

Now the fellow with the turban on the right is a shade darker than others, but that’s just natural and shows the deep historical knowledge passed down through the years to the artist. No one would suggest folks were uniformly white at that time and place anymore so than they are now. 

Christ has his arms open to all men and that is signified by the wide variety of ethnic types around him.  You will notice that he is pictured as the whitest among them, further evidence of his superiority over the others.

Now, take a look at the mosasic to the left here. This is Jesus, portrayed as “Christ as the Good Shepherd,” in a mosaic from the mausoleum of Galla Placidia, c.425-450 AD. (the Year of our Lord) Now, my friends, this fellow is extremely white, especially for a man who works outdoors and such. But there it is, a portrayal of Christ, barely 400 years after his crucifixion, and he’s just as white as snow.

We realize this will not convince non-believers of any thing. But, at least it should start to set to rest any lingering doubts our own brethern might harbour, as a result of manipulation by the JCM.
