Occasionally I come across an editorial that is so poignat and inspired that it simply must be shared with as many people as humanly possible. Such is the case with Conquering the Drawbacks of Democracy , found at the STR website. If you will read my reply first it will give you an idea of how moving and powerful that piece really is. I tip my hat to STR for the brave decision to share the wisdom of Philip Atkinson of The Family Security Foundation, Inc. in a day where it is unpopular to be patriotic and Christian.
Dearest Shelley and Friends,
After reading what I’ve come to believe as the most truthful political commentary I have seen in a long time, I felt compelled to say a prayer not only for our Commander in Chief, but for the staff of STR. Without fail you offer an unbiased and completely accurate depiction of the state of affairs in this United States Under God.
George W. Bush has proven himself time and time again as the most powerful and wise leader this country has ever known. If this were not the case the Liberals would not be so quick to cast stones at him as evidenced by the previous comments. Not that I would give you two-cents for the opinion of a Democrat, because that would be overpaying and I am not one to be taken advantage of, but I can see why those of weak mind and spirit would wholeheartedly despise a man of such integrity. The simple fact is that Liberals are scared to death that another man of faith and honor is going to win then election in 2008 and they will say or do anything in effort to thwart the inevitable. They hate honor and they despise anything remotely decent so it is understandable that they would loathe George W. Bush who stands for both.
If there were any way possible to see President Bush elected for a third term and finish the annihilation of terrorism, I would cast my vote today. However, the established Liberal policy dictates that only two terms be served so we must elect a man who will do anything to keep our country safe. I pray that the next leader will have the wisdom and gumption to finish what George W. Bush started by unleashing relentless attacks on any country who does not stand united with the USA in this Holy war we are in. The best thing that could happen would be to completely destroy the populations of the whole Middle East, Israel being the sole exception, and turn those barren lands over to the Liberals, Sodomites, and Atheists who hate America and God. Then, we destroy it all over again reclaiming the world for our Father. You remain forever in my prayers for the strength and determination to continue providing your gentle readers with the unabridged truth.
YIC,
Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett

I’d just like to amend your final statement to read
A Vote for Sam Brownback in 2008 and again in 2012 will ensure a Godly, Safe Christian American Future!
We have to make sure this country stays as our founding father’s have made it, a truly Christian Nation Under One God!
Connie Mack said
You got that right, BB! After reading this I am going to wear red, white, and blue all day long, 4th of July or not. I am just feeling tingly all over with patriotism.
BB said
Hello all,
I’m a little concerned, I was reading Sam Brownback’s offical website, and was rather impressed with his values, but, I discovered he is a Roman Catholic.
Should a Baptist Bible loving Man like me be concerned with a papist for President?
Concerned Friend in Christ,

Connie Mack said
BB, I had my concerns as well but they were put to rest when I looked at the other men running. All put together they don’t have the faith of a lima bean. Sam might say he’s a Catholic but he sure walks the walk of a true Christian.

You people are disturbed. Seriously disturbed.

LOL, there is nothing worst then a “Christian” who thinks there is a “God” who has given him the right to judge others.
No wonder the Islamic countries fly planes into your high buildings, pitty they missed the White House and ever other “christian” evil that sucks the world dry with their fairy tale beliefs.
What a totally disturbed bunch. If there is something that should be BANNED it is religion in all its forms.
Time for the liberals to take charge and make a law against hate crimes and hate speech and within a month all your pulpit screamers will be where you belong, behind bars with your bibles and all.

TD – what a wonderful thing for you to share that link. Our friends at STR are fine Christians and great Americans.
Connie – you nut! I already had on a blue skirt and blouse so I added a red & white scarf to join in the patriotic theme for the day.
Spoiler – What has made you so anti-American? Do you want for Iraq and Iran to sent more terrorists over here?
Shawn – There is nothing worse than an American hating, God hating bunch of sand niggras coming over here and thinking they can take over our country. We need to do whatever we have to keep them and their WMD out of the USA. You communist.
God Bless!

Lynelle –
To my knowledge, Iraq and Iran haven’t sent terrorists over here. 9/11 was planned and executed by mostly Saudis, whose royal family are, of course, good friends with the Bush family. Iraqis can barely afford food or clothing, let alone tickets to America, and the Iranian people have to be scared to death now that Dubya is about to declare a sovereign nation’s National Army to be a terrorist group.
We’re reaching new heights of stupidity daily, and you folks are just along for the ride.
I’ve asked before, and received no answer, but I’ll try again:
If a citizen can’t question his/her government, what is the point of democracy?
Tristan J. Shuddery said
Thanks TD – as you see we at STR have not yet officially endorsed a candidate. This is because we see our role as primarily educating and guiding the pre-election process. We could not do that if we were anything but fair and balanced.
We firmly believe that 2008 will be all about core issues, and the number one issue on our table apart from the threats of homosexuality and abortion will almost certainly be the need for continuity in George W. Bush’s war on Terrorism. I firmly believe that Americans will not vote for a candidate who does not fully embrace the principled stand on terrorism lead by our current President.

Spoiler-
Didn’t our PRESIDENT OF THESE CHRISTIAN UNITED STATES say that the Terrorists were in Iraq? I’m sure he said that, and of course as a TRUE American I believe everything that he says. We must be diligent in our war against the camel jockeys.
I wish I had read this post earlier instead of at work so I could have shown my true spirit today and have worn my Blue suit, white shirt and red tie.

First of all, our Founding Fathers were certainly not the good Christians you all seem to think they were. Separation of Church and State is enshrined in the Bill of Rights, have you all forgotten that?
Secondly, Dubya also claimed there were WMD in Iraq – 3 1/2 years in, have we found any trace of them? No.
Again, I ask,
What is the point of democracy if citizen’s can’t question their president?
Lynelle Bryant - USE Ministry Leader said
Spoiler – Your question has been answered a 100 times and you don’t like the answer you get so you keep on asking. It is treasonous to question the authority of our President George W. Bush. He knows what is best for the country, he is the decider and that is all there is to it.
Tristan – Thank you for stopping by. It is like having Shawn Hannity or another famous political analyst in the house. Always an honor.
BB – If he did say that it was to throw them off track while we got the proof of the WMD, which we did. I don’t know where you get your facts but you are being lied to. Stop whining like a Liberal baby and support your country.
God Bless!

Lynelle,
I bet you didn’t think it was treasonous to question Bill Clinton’s authority, did you?
And no, my question has yet to be answered. You say that you love America, but you clearly can’t stand Americans.
Lynelle Bryant - USE Ministry Leader said
In case you forgot Slick Willy Clinton was being charged with Impeachment for lying. He lost his power when he dropped his pants for that pig intern of his and there was no choice but to question everything he did or said. I’ve come to believe that you are not from America or you wouldn’t hate it as much as you do. That is so sad. And here you are having a baby in our country, maybe even on welfare but you speak against everything we stand for. I will pray for you.

Just like the lady who couldn’t find the beef… Where’s the WMDs? Not in Iraq, that’s for sure.
Too bad your army is so wholly incompetent that you’re failing in Iraq, just like you did in Vietnam.

It is treasonous to question the authority of our President George W. Bush. He knows what is best for the country, he is the decider and that is all there is to it.
Then, if that was true, you (not me – we have t3h awesome Gordon Brown, who’s sending the UK left-wing full speed ahead) live in a dictatorship; plain and simple. The President would have the sole authority in the country (oh, and remember that you cannot be a servant to two people!), and there would be no checks to his authority whatsoever. If he decided to order the army to slaughter all people of X ethnic group tomorrow morning, you would say that was right, cos he’s the president, right? Wrong – constitutional checks and balances are in place to prevent that happening, and you elect him every four years to keep the dictators out.
I’m sure that we should just assume that this is due to ignorance of the way that government works, but here’s a tip – read some Amnesty International reports about various dictatorships around the world. Zimbabwe. China. Burma.
It’s treasonous to question the authority of President Robert Mugabe, Premier Hu Jintao, and Supreme General Than Shwe. Apparently, they know what’s best for their country, they are the deciders, and, for their people, that is all there is to it.
Look what happens there.

Spoiler dear,
Far be it from me to be critical, but the ’separation of church and state’ is not in the Bill of Rights, I believe you are actually thinking of the First Amendment, and to be frank it isn’t in there either, while it is implied. The term was coined lated by Jefferson in a letter, where he said the 1st Amendment implied a ‘wall of separation’.
Secondly, the comment ‘claim to love america, but clearly hate americans’ is from the film ‘The American President’, I am fairly sure it was spoken by Annette Benning to Michael Douglas. So you should probably have put that in quotes.
SPOILER said
WhoDat,
What on earth are you doing watching a movie by one of the most liberal men in Hollywood, Aaron Sorkin? If he wants to contact me for copyright infringement, he can.
Separation of Church and State is a concept that has been accepted as a part of what makes America fundamentally different for over 200 years. And also, the 1st Amendment is in the Bill of Rights, **UnChristian Word**.
Mod Note: Quit calling people dummies, spoiler. It is Brother Whodat or take it elsewhere

You know, you are so right – the omission of the ‘ and ‘ negates the entire argument.
SPOILER said
huh?
Brother Interpreted said
Spoiler – don’t you see? WhoDat’s cunning reasoning and masterly rhetorical skills have easily swept aside our foolish word. What idiots we were to believe in Liberalism, when such potent arguments are ranged against it – it should be in quotation marks!
SPOILER said
That’s right, I’m sorry. The incorrect use of grammar automatically defeats an otherwise reasonable, rational argument. I must have missed that day in school.

I am aware that the 1st amendment is in the Bill of Rights, I was simply pointing out that there was no ‘Separation of church and state’ section, and that you were refering to an implication in the 1st amendment, I thought that was fairly obvious. Those words are not in there, look it up.
As for the other thing, as it was word for word and not your original ones, it seems credit should be given where credit is due, don’t you think?
Lord, you people seriously need things spelled out for you.
SP0ILER said
Fine, I will credit the genius Aaron Sorkin for using his words (without permission). Although, given the argument I’m trying to make, and what I was arguing against, I’m sure Mr. Sorkin wouldn’t mind.
SP0ILER said
And wasn’t that using the Lord’s name in vain?

Dear,
I understand that you are only bitter because you, who claim to want debate and not insults, are simply feeling a bit embararased by having your mistakes pointed out. But lets not be a hypocrite now, you claimed that you intended to ‘raise the bar’ yet aren’t willing to follow the ‘rules’ yourself. Hence you resorted to insults.
Tsk, tsk, tsk…
WhoDat said
I should have been more delicate when pointing out your mistakes. Like thinking that their was a specific section or even the phrase ‘Separation of Church and State’ anywhere in the Bill of Rights. Granted that is a common mistake.
But heck just the other day one of you folks (who I won’t name) didn’t even know who Karl Rove is, and what he does. So, I should have kept that in mind.
My apologies.
God Bless.

Dear Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett,
Praise be to God! You have beautifully and movingly expressed my own deeply held feelings about Philip Atkinson’s God given wisdom! I nearly wept manly tears of joy when you spoke the truth, “George W. Bush has proven himself time and time again as the most powerful and wise leader this country has ever known.” If only God forsaken Liberals could be forced by a benevolent dictator to read and properly reflect upon the truth of your words there, or be castrated if they didn’t, I feel they would convert in droves to the True Christian Religion (Baptist Republican) and vote in large numbers for Senator Sam Brownback. May the Lord bless you, Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett for your kind and generous effort to give Philip Atkinson’s powerful essay the wide audience it deserves!

Jesus loves even you, who are obviously weak in His ways and less than half a man. Repent! before your time is come and the Good Lord kicks your puny ass into the lake of everlasting fire. What kind of fallacy do you people condemn religion to? The lord almighty has spoken to the world and you continue to seek higher ground in morality and divinity? Jesus Christ has shown us the way to the almighty, and that is love unconditionally. I see very little love here, and even less sense. There are many branches on the tree, not one, so the threats of being cast into hell do very little in terms of showing love. If you want it mathematically , slander, prejudice, judgement and hatred are all negative (-1). respect, compassion, empathy and love are all positive (+1). So tell me ‘Christians’, do you build, or do you destroy god’s children?
