Evan Almighty: Enough Blasphemy Already

Posted by Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett on June 23, 2007

Universal Pictures Propaganda hopes to have a summer hit with the June 22 release of Evan Almighty AKA The Passion of the Ark.  This sequel to the lack luster and equally as offensive, Bruce Almighty, is described as : A self-obsessed congressman learns the value of helping others when he is told by God to build an ark to prepare for a flood.

Where is the humor to be found in this? I suppose the producers of this film are banking on the return of Morgan Freeman, as a nasty talking, ghetto-acting, colored Lord and Savior, will appeal to enough people to fill the theaters.  I think not.

Perhaps the talent scouts for Evan Almighty belive that casting foul mouthed actors Wanda Sikes, John Goodman, and Steve Carell  are the key to this films success. I think not.

What will be offer minimal succes to this film is the overwhelming display of blasphemy and sacrilige towards Christianity.  Hoards of atheists, Satanists, and pagans have been anxiously awaiting for the latest in a string of films that mock and defile the name of the Lord.  It is probably too late to save those people from eternal damnation but there may be hope for the unsuspecting souls who are not aware of the true nature of this film.  As Christians it is our duty to so something about it.

So what can we do?

Write a letter to the editor telling them how outraged and saddened you are as a Christian that Evan Almighty is being touted as a Family-Friendly movie with a riddiculous PG rating. Tell them that this film does not represent your family values and that you have had enough.

Click here to find the email address of your local newspaper editor.

Click here to send a letter of outrage to Universal Pictures Propaganda.

Click here to find a list of National and Regional Theater websites so you can contact the theaters directly.

If you are free this weekend, go to the theater in your area that is showing Evan Almighty and picket.  Let the patrons of that theater know that you will not stand for this kind of abomination on the big screen any longer.

Pray. Pray for the destruction of those who wish to destroy the institution of Christianity and for the warth of God to come upon the heads of those who seek to undermine our faith.

Vote. Vote for Sam Brownback in 2008. Sam has the moral fiber and faith in Christ that America needs.  You owe it to yourself, your family, and more importantly to God.

From what I have read the story is unsmutty and fairy respectful of the Biblical account. That is quite a rarity in town run by Liberal Jews and Homosexuals. So I was thinking about taking my grandchildren to it.

But apparently, it is poisoned with all sorts of liberal tree-hugging “Global Warming” nonsense propaganda. And, of course, having the Lord portrayed as a black man was the final straw.

My family will NOT be seeing this trash.

    FREEDOM IS NOT FREE!

  2. Linus said

Hey. I resent the the implication that I am not a Christian.

  3. Dottie415 said

No one needs to imply anything. You are either a Christian or you are not.

If you are a Mormon or a Catholic, you are not.

    It’s really very simple.

    You’re welcome.

  4. No. It wasn’t an implication. It was a fact, Linus.

    Amen Dottie!

You are aware that the psrodt here is no longer funny? It’s far too over-the-top.

    Daffy:

They wanted me for the lead in that flick. It was gonna be called, “democommie Almighty”, it would be about an exodus of sorts with me finding all the G-Rides (that “G” is for GOD) to carry the “Chosen People” on their exodus to the Promised Land Theme Park (You were thinking the Jews? yeah, as if!). We were all on board but then those GODLESS bastards in Heathenwood told me I was going to have walk away from my sacred duties at the General’s Motor Pool. Read my lisp, “NOT gonna happen!”

  7. Excuse me. Did you actually use the word “colored” to describe one of the finest actors of our time? “Colored”??? Why don’t you just go to the 1950’s where you belong?

  8. Linus said

    Because they’re psrodies…

  9. Wayne A. Schneider,

I suggest you email your concerns about the used of the descriptive “colored” to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), which has four times presented Morgan Freeman with their Image Award for best supporting performance by a colored actor in a motion picture.

After that you can go straight to hell, where satan and his imps will tear you a few new ones with their red hot pincers as you slowly roast over an eternal flame.

May I remind Mr Maker, and Mrs Gaines-Crockett, of Galatians 3:28?

‘There is neither Jew nor Greek … for you are all one in Christ Jesus.’

Why, then, are you noting what colour his skin is? It’s wrong, racist, and, if the last two didn’t persuade you, unBiblical.

  11. May I remind you, MISinterpreted, about a little thing knows as the Curse of Ham? I bet you forgot about that didn’t you? No one here is a racist, far from it. I personally have several colored friends who feel the same way about this wicked film as I do.

I rebuke you for coming in here and trying to stir up ugliness on this, the Lord’s day.

  12. Taffy, I’m afraid that UNinterpretable probably thinks the “curse of ham” is that story his uncle Schlomo told last Passover about not getting the kosher meal on the plane from Florida.

  13. interpreted said

I am most certainly aware of it –
‘20 And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.
24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
26 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.’

If you’re referring to the ‘blackened by sin’ interpretation, then I remind you of three things -

    - Look at the passage. Can you give me a Biblical reference as to your ‘curse of ham’ idea?
    - Galatians 3:28, the Parable of the Good Samaritan – all of these are fairly strongly anti-racist, and anti-prejudice.
    - You may have, as you say, ‘coloured friends’. The fact that you refer to them in such a matter suggests to me that you are expressing racist sentiments, although you may not be aware of it.

I think the sodomites that made this film (those ungodly heathens in Hollywood) should be beaten publicly with rods. As should ANY who defile our creator’s name or cast doubt upon ANY of the Holy Book.

does jesus want you scaring me?? jesus wouldn’t scare me. why do you?

  17. lanfranc said

I must say that I am surprised that mrs. Gaines-Crockett and Pastor Tobin Maker would use something as questionable as the “Curse of Ham” as an argument against “coloured” people. After all, Revelations 7:9 makes it quite clear that “…a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and the Lamb…”, or Matthew 24:14 that “…this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

I shall pray that the Lord will grant you a better understanding of the Scripture.

It is NOT my fault that Noah got drunk AND flashed his manhood to his own own children. It was Noah’s fault. So don’t come up in here and try and blame me if Noah got stupid drunk and God cursed his grandchildren with a pigment disoder because of it. It was a long time ago but it happened. Deal with it.

Personally, I think you are the one who has a problem with colored people. Not any of us. I think I am going to pray for YOUR ignorance and racist ways.

I picked Bible verses – are you saying that Paul and Jesus were wrong when they wrote (or spoke) the letter to the Galatians and the Parable of the Good Samaritan?

Jesus was right. He had to be. Any other interpretation would appear to disagree with what he said.

Also, I’m still waiting for some indication in the passage I outlined there is anything relevant to what you said about the ‘curse of Ham’.

  23. Amen Lynelle.

    Interpreted,

Jesus hasn’t been wrong about anything. Ever. But the liberals who try and pick out the parts that don’t suit their agendas are wrong every single time. You either accept the word of God in its entirety or you don’t accept it all. The latter will get you a one-way ticket to HELL so I’d be careful which one I chose if I were you. And thank GOD I am not.

    Demmo,

You are either high on drugs or in dire need of psychological help. On the main page of this web site are several links members of a Christian Medical association. I suggest that you find yourself one.

  24. interpreted said

‘You either accept the word of God in its entirety or you don’t accept it all.’

So are you not accepting the letter to the Galatians and the Parable of the Good Samaritan?

  25. Interpreted,

No one here has ever denied it. You are the one who wants to get up on stage and tap-dance around the fact that God cursed Noah for making obscene jestures while drunk. That is why God made some people more colored than others. Noah’s grandson Canaan was the one who suffered as a result. Can you imagine being the only colored person in the entire world? I can’t. It must have been horrible for him.

  26. lanfranc said

I think you are confusing things, Mrs. Gaines-Crockett. It was not God who cursed Noah, it was Noah who cursed Cana’an. Nor does it say anywhere that the color of any individual was changed as a result of any curse. Indeed, I don’t recall there being any references in the Bible to the color of any person. I do hope that this is merely based in a misunderstanding, and that you’re not intentionally “putting words in the mouth of God” to make His words fit your own preconceptions.

  27. Ianfranc,

Noah did not have the power to curse anyone. No mortal ever has had such a power. His actions, however, were wicked enough to cause the Lord to bring about a curse on the generations of Noah. Just like the homosexuals, liberals, abortionists, etc. have brought about curses on this country via their actions.

  28. interpreted said

‘That is why God made some people more colored than others.’

Give me a precise Biblical quote for that. Go on, here is the passage –

  29. lanfranc said

Mrs. T. D. Gaines-Crockett! I must say that I am shocked and appalled by what I am reading. Obviously, the Devil himself has infiltrated your heart and is e’en now twisting the true meaning of the words of Holy Scripture, thus preventing you from seeing your fellow man with proper charity and humility.

Do not blame yourself, though. It is only natural that a Christian who has decided not to accept guidance by the rightful Magisterium of the Holy Church would eventually end up in this situation. The very idea, prideful as it is, that mortal man may hope to comprehend Scripture unaided is well known to open the gates of the heart for the Evil One. I urge you to repent immediately.

  30. Ianfranc,

I only bow to the one Master, the Holy Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ, so you can just keep all of your theological talk about Bishops and Popes and charity to yourself. We are Baptists here and we take our problems directly to the Top. Middle management has been eliminated, as it has no place in our faith.

You are obviously free in this country to worship as you see fit, but you would do well to keep your Holy Church recruiting to yourself, as you will find no apostate Baptists here wont to forgo their Amen’s for Hail Mary’s .

For future reference, dear, I would strongly suggest that you remember just where you are. The last time someone spoke to me in such a manner I slapped him so hard across the mouth that his jaws shook; his teeth rattled, and his eyes rolled into the back of his head. Twice. The parable of Noah, Ham, and Canaan has been explained to you repeatedly. Seeing as you didn’t understand it the first three times you heard it is not likely that by repeating it again will do a lick of good.

I am going to close with a special prayer.

    LORD ABOVE,

I COME AGAINST THE SPIRIT OF IGNORANCE HIDING IN THE DARK, DAMP MINDS OF INTERPRETER, IANFRANC’S AND ALL OTHERS WHO COME BOUND IN BONDAGE. I COME TO YOU, LORD, BINDING THE SPIRITS OF BONDAGE AND HEAVINESS, FEAR AND HATE BROUGHT TO THIS WEBSITE.

I PRAY, LORD, THAT YOU WILL OPEN THE EYES AND MINDS OF IANFRANC, INTERPRETER, AND ALL OTHERS WHO COME HERE WITH WITH HEAVY, BITTER HEARTS. OPEN THEIR SO THEY CAN SEE THE GLORY OF JESUS. OPEN THEIR HEARTS SO THAT THEY CAN HEAR YOUR VOICE.

BREAK THE YOKES IN THEIR LIVES AND GIVE THEM LIBERTY IN THEIR SOULS, THAT THEY MAY BE FREE TO REPENT. SHOW THEM EVERY EVIL WORK AND EVERY EVIL DEED THEY’RE GUILTY OF, AND LORD JESUS, CONVICT THEIR HEARTS UNTO REPENTANCE. BRING THESE SOULS OUT OF DARKNESS; SAVE THESE SOULS SO THAT YOU MAY HAVE THE GLORY.

    AMEN.

  31. Indeed, Taffy.

The curse God placed upon Noah’s descendants as a result of his drunken pee pee-flapping was not unlike the punishment God meted out to the United States on 9/11. We have the abortionists, sodomites, Clintons, crack whores, rappers and their ilk to blame for the horrible events of that fateful day.

  32. Amen Pastor. It sure doesn’t make things easy on Christians that we should endure their constant persecution though. The Lord did say that “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution”, but I wish it didn’t have to be all the time. It’s gotten so that if you are a Chrisitan you might as well have a bulls-eye target on your back.

  33. lanfranc said

I certainly appreciate your prayers, Mrs. T.D. Gaines-Crockett, although it’s Lanfranc, not Ianfranc. The capitalization was messed up when registering, I’m afraid.

I don’t know how particular The Lord is about correct spelling in these cases, though. I guess I’ll have to go and ask my bishop about that.

  34. What kind of a name is Lanfranc? It sounds terribly foreign to me.

  35. lanfranc said

It’s Norman, ma’am. References the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1070 to 1089. Terribly foreign, I must indeed admit.

  36. Well that explains a lot. I knew something was wrong but I couldn’t put my finger on it. So are you visiting our lovely United States or just aggrevating it’s Christian citizens online for jollies?

  37. lanfranc said

Just online, ma’am, I’m afraid. But I certainly hope to have the opportunity to make an extended visit to your beautiful country sometime in the future.

  38. Lanfranc,

Well if and when you do visit I hope you’ll make a point to visit a good, old-fashioned Baptist Church service. If you’re lucky, you can time it when there is a dinner on the grounds. Between a Holy Ghost filled service and some good southern cooking you won’t ever want to leave.

  39. lanfranc said

I shall definitely make a point of doing so, ma’am.

Perhaps in return I might invite you to consider attending a Catholic service sometime? In a good church, the Easter services in particular can be an exceptionally moving experience.

  40. “In a good church, the Easter services in particular can be an exceptionally moving experience.”

Amen to that! I’m sure I would feel like having a huge movement if I had to watch those old pedophiles in their silly dresses skipping down the aisle!

  41. Grace said

There is no doubt that the power of the church, when fully backed by the Holy Spirit, is the most powerful force on, above, or below earth. Gather two or more faithful Christians in prayer for the same issue and just watch what happens. Unfortunately, for Lanfranc, the institution of Catholicism is little more than a cult backed with centuries of Catholic doctrine and creed to prove it. For any Christian, it would be prudent of them to avoid the Catholic religion whenever possible.

I’m waiting for a precise quote that backs up your mythical ‘curse of Ham = dark skin’ ideal. Or perhaps it’s merely my ‘DARK, DAMP MIND’, and Mrs Gaines-Crockett and Pastor Tobin Maker feel themselves above the Scriptural logos.

Wow, I must say I am amaze.

I came across this website thinking that “Evan Almighty” was in fact propaganda. But I am shocked to see how a reflexion about a film led to such an argument.

Now some people expressed a different opinion (mostly in a polite and civilized way, In my opinion) than the author of the article. Not every one think and belive the same way you do. You can either ignore them, or challenge them by proving your point or explaining your faith. However, you can not reject what they’re saying just because it’s not what you’re saying.

Is someone asking you a question by referring to the Galatians, a sign of someone with a “DARK, DAMP MIND” ?

  46. Philippe?

If that isn’t a name the evokes the stench of homersexural bath houses then I don’t know sin.

  47. Philippe said

See ? that’s exactly what I meant. Instead of answering my question you try to discard my opinion because of my Name !

And FYI, “Philippe” means “one who likes horse”. Is that a sin ? I guess it’s the fact that it’s a french name that make it a sin… Since when does one’s name influence his sexual orientation ?

  48. Philippe?

You seriously feel the need to even ask if it’s a sin to “like horse”? Good Lord!

“Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.” Leviticus 18:23,

John Wayne would have knocked you out of your tasseled loafers with one mighty punch for even suggesting such perversity.

After reading these comments it seems obvious that while some posters are anxious to engage in a worthy discussion of Biblical interpretation, and are willing to use scripture to argue their points, others refuse to discuss civilly at all and only attack with whatever piece of bigotry or prejudice lies handy. I would advise both Pastor Tobin Maker and Mrs. Gaines-Crockett in particular to spend more time studying scripture and engaged in deep thought and a little less time on message boards attacking posters with foreign-sounding names.

I surely hope that this site is a joke.

The author of the article wrote: ” I suppose the producers of this film are banking on the return of Morgan Freeman, as a nasty talking, ghetto-acting, colored Lord and Savior…”

First off, anyone who saw Evan Almighty knows that Morgan Freeman is not nasty talking, or ghetto acting, and to imply that he would be because he is black is ignorant. Morgan Freeman is incredibly talented and his portrayal of God appearing to Evan is filled with depth and reverant humor. Are you saying the producers should have chosen a white actor for the part? I surely hope not. God is not bound my race. This movie is a FICTIONAL tale that shows God appearing to Evan as man (not too far off, since Jesus was God in the flesh).

The movie does not mock God, Christians, the Bible, etc. etc. If anything the movie portrays God has all knowing, all loving, and His authority as sovereign and deserved. Those who believe in God are portrayed as blessed and those who do not, foolish. Yes, the move is a comedy, but it’s not a mockery-HUGE difference.

Also, the movie contains no sex, violence or cursing except one use of the word “jackass” when referring to an animal.

From most of the comments on this site, it sounds like most people have not even seen the movie or read its premise. I don’t know why SOME christians are so quick to pervert everything.

I saw the movie and thoroughly enjoyed it. It reminded me of God’s love for every soul and His superior ways. It’s just a movie and not everyone is going to like it and that’s fine. But we shouldn’t blindly demonize and condemn those who do like it, because there is nothing in it that is “blasphemous.”

  53. Tia Lynn said

Also, there is no where in the Bible that says Noah’s curse on Ham’s son Canaan resulted in darker skin. That is just an old racist lie used to justify the enslavement of blacks, arguing that they should servants. Disgusting.

All the name calling by Pastor Tobin is childish and one-sided. We get that you despise homosexuals, liberals, etc. etc. and blame for 9/11….but why don’t you share some the blame with pious religious who go around condemning everybody, Jesus wasn’t a fan of them either.

I would also suggest you read Ezekial 16:49-50 that reveals Sodom was also destroyed because THEY NEGLECTED AND REFUSED TO STRENGTHEN THE HAND OF THE POOR…. looks like conservatives wanting tax cuts for rich and expect them to “pull themsevles up by their bootstraps” are equally in trouble.

  54. William Lecorchick said

Wow, I’ve never seen such childish talk from those who call themselves God’s people in my life. It is also sinful to be hate-mongers who are not filled with the love of God but with the spirit of Satan. There is no greater commandment than to love the Lord with all your heart, mind and soul and then to love your neigbor as yourself. It doesn’t take much discernment to see that some of you here need to check your hearts and see if there is love in there. I’m not going to be immature and name call but you should be Spirit filled enough to feel convicted about the foolish things some of you are saying. I don’t care what your opinons are about the movie. Check your hearts!

  55. “After that you can go straight to hell, where satan and his imps will tear you a few new ones with their red hot pincers as you slowly roast over an eternal flame.”

I would if I believed in that silliness, but I’m one of those people who does nice things because I want to, not because I fear what might happen in an imaginary afterlife.

And I’ve been meaning to talk to the NAACP about that, BTW. Thanks for the reminder.

    Have a nice day.
